This Is How It Started

BOSTON – National guard units seeking to confiscate a cache of recently banned assault weapons were ambushed on April 19th by elements of a para-military extremist faction. Military and law enforcement sources estimate that 72 were killed and more than 200 injured before government forces were compelled to withdraw.

Speaking after the clash Massachusetts Governor Thomas Gage declared that the extremist faction, which was made up of local citizens, has links to the radical right-wing tax protest movement. Gage blamed the extremists for recent incidents of vandalism directed against internal revenue offices. The governor, who described the group’s organizers as “criminals,” issued an executive order authorizing the summary arrest of any individual who has interfered with the government’s efforts to secure law and order. The military raid on the extremist arsenal followed wide-spread refusal by the local citizenry to turn over recently outlawed assault weapons.

Gage issued a ban on military-style assault weapons and ammunition earlier in the week. This decision followed a meeting in early this month between government and military leaders at which the governor authorized the forcible confiscation of illegal arms.

One government official, speaking on condition of anonymity, pointed out that “none of these people would have been killed had the extremists obeyed the law and turned over their weapons voluntarily.”

Government troops initially succeeded in confiscating a large supply of outlawed weapons and ammunition. However, troops attempting to seize arms and ammunition in Lexington met with resistance from heavily-armed extremists who had been tipped off regarding the government’s plans. During a tense standoff in Lexington’s town park, National Guard Colonel Francis Smith, commander of the government operation, ordered the armed group to surrender and return to their homes. The impasse was broken by a single shot, which was reportedly fired by one of the right-wing extremists. Eight civilians were killed in the ensuing exchange. Ironically, the local citizenry blamed government forces rather than the extremists for the civilian deaths. Before order could be restored, armed citizens from surrounding areas had descended upon the guard units.

Colonel Smith, finding his forces over-matched by the armed mob, ordered a retreat. Governor Gage has called upon citizens to support the state/national joint task force in its effort to restore law and order. The governor also demanded the surrender of those responsible for planning and leading the attack against the government troops. Samuel Adams, Paul Revere, and John Hancock, who have been identified as “ringleaders” of the extremist faction, remain at large.

Ft. Worth Police Shoot and Kill Elderly Man

Ft. Worth Police officers shot and killed an elderly man at his Woodhaven home last night. The man, 72-year-old Jerry Waller was in his back yard and armed due to a burglar alarm going off across the street from his house. It was speculated that police responded to the wrong address and shot Mr. Waller when the two first year officers "felt threatened."

Texas Bans Drone Surveillance

The Texas legislature passed a bill this past weekend that would see a blanket ban on capturing moving or still images on private property with an unmanned drone.

The legislation, House Bill 912, authored by Rep. Lance Gooden, R-Terrell, will make it a Class C misdemeanor for anyone to use a drone for surveillance of an individual without their prior consent. Further distributing any images captured as a result of such activity will be a class B misdemeanor punishable by a fine of up to $10,000.

The bill states that “Each image a person possesses, discloses, displays, distributes, or otherwise uses in violation of this section is a separate offense. An offense under this section for the disclosure, display, distribution, or other use of an image is a Class B misdemeanor.”

Exceptions to the legislation, known as the ‘Texas Privacy Act’, will be police use of drones to pursue known felons or conduct criminal investigations. Using drones to investigate misdemeanors will require a warrant. In addition, use of drones to survey accidents, disasters or potential hazardous spills will be permitted.

Another exemption allows media organisations that have permission to use drones to monitor any major news activity.

“With the privacy and property rights of Texans, it is important that specific safeguards are put into place which govern the purpose and manner in which drones may be used,” said Rep. Gooden.

The Senate passed the measure 26-5 Sunday, while House members also passed the measure 140-4. The bill will now go to the desk of Governor Rick Perry.

Texas is the latest trailblazing state to ban warrantless spy drones being used by police or government, in an effort to protect privacy.

What Do We Remember On Memorial Day?

This Monday, May 27, is Memorial Day. The national holiday, formerly known as Decoration Day, is observed on the last Monday of May every year and commemorates U.S. soldiers who died while in the military service. The day of remembrance was first enacted to honor Union and Confederate soldiers following the American Civil War, but after World War I it was extended to include those Americans who have died in all wars.

Originally started as a ritual of remembrance and reconciliation after the civil war, Memorial Day has become an occasion for more general expressions of honored recognition. Families now use the day to visit the graves of deceased relatives whether they served in the military or not. It has also become a long weekend increasingly devoted to shopping, family get-togethers, fireworks, trips to the beach, and national media events such as the Indianapolis 500 auto race.

In past years, the theme of the holiday has transformed into American exceptionalism and our duty as a nation to uphold freedom in the world.

A national moment of remembrance takes place at 3 p.m. local time. Another tradition is to fly the flag of the United States at half-staff from dawn until noon local time. The National Memorial Day Concert takes place on the west lawn of the United States Capitol with a broadcast on PBS and NPR. Music is performed, and respect is paid to the men and women who died in war.

Sociologists often make the argument that America has a secular "civil religion" – one with no association with any religious denomination or viewpoint – that has incorporated Memorial Day as a sacred event. Our American tradition includes an obligation to honor the sacrifices made by our nation to earn our freedom.

Globalism

Globalism is the ongoing liberal authoritarian desire for a "one world" view that rejects the role of sovereign nations in protecting values and encouraging productivity. Globalism is anti-nationalist in that it encourages Americans to adopt a "world view" rather than an "American view."

Globalism is expressed using terms such as "one world," and supports a centralized, single world government. Some groups such as the World Federalist Movement, the Bilderbergers, the IMF, and some non-Christian religions such as Bahai, actively campaign for world government. "Global" is a fashionable term in business, where the word "international" would be more appropriate.

The term "global" looks at the world as a single cohesive unit while the term "international" better recognizes the world's different countries, different cultures, different languages, different ethnicities, and national borders. Thus, the two terms are not the same thing and using them interchangeably is often incorrect; however, it should be noted that the two are not mutually exclusive.

Globalism also involves the theory of a "global economy" in which the economic achievements of most if not all nations are seen to be interdependent with those of other nations around the world because of international trade. This is possible because of recent technological inventions such as the internet. For example, a farmer in Ghana can now be insured that he is paid the standard market price for a particular crop because of the standards set in Chicago which he can check with a telephone or internet connection. This is, of course, a false argument because there are two distinctly different economies in Ghana and Chicago.

Boy Scouts Go Gay

The Boy Scouts of America say they're going gay. Read about it here. The reaction from the general public is that the rolls of the scouts will be greatly reduced -- perhaps to the point where the organization will not survive. It is also predicted that numerous, assorted lawsuits will occur. Another American institution bites the dust in the name of political correctness.

Gun Control Strategy Revealed

IRS Director Pleads Fifth On Harassment Charges

IRS Director Lois Lerner
Lois Lerner, director of the IRS division that singled out conservative groups for harassment, invoked the Fifth Amendment today before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

Lerner, head of the exempt organizations division, refuses to answer questions about what she knew about IRS agents going after Tea Party-related groups or why she sat on the information for so long before it became public.

Adding to the outrage, Lerner’s attorney, William Taylor III, asked committee Chairman Darrell Issa, R-Calif., in a letter if Lerner could skip the hearing altogether since she would be pleading the Fifth.

Taylor argued in the letter that forcing Lerner to appear “would have no purpose other than to embarrass or burden her.”

Late Tuesday, the House oversight committee released a statement saying Lerner was still under subpoena and would be required to appear in the morning.

Of course, Lerner's response simply adds fuel to the already blazing fire of scandals within the Obama administration -- which appears to have adopted a strategy of simply refusing to honestly discuss any matter that puts its actions in a poor light.

Our freedoms and our republic are crumbling before our very eyes.
